PRETTY PATTERNS

PRINTS CHARMING . . .

We have seen the florals, the Ikat, the Art Nouveau. Been privy to the paisley, the polka-dot, and the plaid. Done tie-dye and rugby stripe. Now what’s new?

Of course, Diane Von Furstenberg gets it right most of the time (see my previous post, dolls!). But who else is out there?

Reinvention is the key to interesting design. Take, for example, this flirty wave print dress by Armani Exchange, available for a mere $130.00 at armaniexchange.com. It’s easy, fun, and unique.

Michael Kors provides a simple yet elegant strapless sheath with a coral motif - in blue! Clever!

Temperley London is always impressing me with some fabulous new frock. And this Fall 2008 season is no exception. Behold, this gorgeous, billowy gown in beige and black, with a flattering vertical stripe pattern that widens as the dress does. And the neckline is ever so fabulous as well, anchoring the print and with a slimming, cinched black empire waist bra-top.

Herve Legér throws his hat (or dress?) in the ring with this floral silhouette, adding vibrato to the traditional banded mini for which the house of Legér is so famous. The judicious use of pattern is key here.

So get out there, lovelies, and discover something new under the sun. Cherry print is so OVER (sorry, Shoshanna!).

And remember, CoutureCarrie says it's perfectly okay to combine your prints - mix and match and make mayhem!
